Bronwyn’s Dad suffered a heart attack this afternoon that we did not find out about until after my physical therapy tonight.

The doctors do not yet know much about his condition… but he is alive and on many medications. Hopefully, he’ll make a full recovery through surgery and meds!

If anybody actually read this blot, please send us a message or give us a call. We really could use some friends right now!

Comic for 12-20-08

Also, I'm pretty sure after eating all that sushi, I'm allergic to scallops.

We’ve been planning the crap out of our wedding recently and this idea just popped into my head.

Yesterday, we went to Yamashiro, a restaurant in the Hollywood Hills.  The restaurant is beautiful, and it looks like they designed it specifically for weddings.  So, instead of getting married at the Disneyland Hotel like we originally wanted, we’ve switched our location to Yamashiro.

There were a number of reasons for this change.  For one thing, they wanted to charge us $150 per power outlet we use.  Then, they also wanted to charge us for the amount of power we consume on top of that.  Yeah, Disney needs to watch out for the electricity consumption from a 5 hour wedding.  It’s not like they have an Electric Light Parade!  …What’s that?  Oh, they do?  Huh…

More importantly than the rediculousness of charging us for using outlets and for using electricity, is just the fact they were impossible to work with.  I’ve said it before… if the Bride is unhappy, then nobody’s happy.  And if the Bride’s mother is unhappy, then nobody‘s happy!

So, we switched our location and we’re all (me, Bron, my parents, and her parents) super excited with this new venue.

If you want to have a great meal for a special occasion (birthday, aniversary, and so forth), I 100% recommend Yamashiro.  I can say without a doubt, it was the best shashimi I’ve ever had!

Comic For 12-03-08

This really happened. But it happened in a few weeks from now.

A while back when I was still in college, I made a comic about me and Paul traveling back in time (in a DeLorean, of course).  In the comic, Paul hits on himself.  Back then, as you probably will notice, my comics were unpolished as I was learning the ins and outs of Photoshop Elements.  Yeah, that’s right, I don’t use regular Photoshop or Illustrator to make my comics.  Those are both too heavy for my needs!  PSE really works for me and I strongly reccomend it for anybody who isn’t necessarily looking for a graphics powerhouse.

Anyways, I started thinking about what would have happened to Paul and… Paul.

Naturally, I came to this conclusion.

Comic for 11-22-08

I really wish I thought of doing this at the time...

So, it shoudln’t come as any surprise to anybody that Gamestop has a rue where if you open a game you can’t return it if you don’t like it.  Yeah, that’s the rule even though the salesperson explicityly told me that if I didn’t like the game or if it didn’t work that I could return it for a full refund any time.  The manager told me that the salesperson in question does that all the time even though it’s not true.  Well, if that’s the case, then you either fire the employee for giving false information to customers or you honor his mistake and give the refund since the customer was misinformed.

This happened when I bought and subsiquently returned a certain game that everybody is in love with.  That’s right, I didn’t like LittleBigPlanet.  I didn’t like it for a number of reasons.

First, and most importantly, the game didn’t work on my PS3.  I could not connect to the network… which is kind of important for a game that is specifically designed to be played with people all over the world.

Second, the game’s single player mode was just hard as hell.  Both Bronwyn and I couldn’t even get past the third world.  Yeah, I know, you don’t have “lives” in the game like a normal side-scroller (don’t argue, that’s essentially what LBP is), but the fact remains that it was too hard to get anywhere!

And finally, it wasn’t fun.  In most people’s opinions, LPB is apparently the most fun one can have sitting in front of a screen.  Well, Bronwyn and I must be out of our minds because we didn’t think it was fun at all; and, moreover, we find that watching truTV together is more fun than struggling to beat a level in the single player mode of a game that’s designed to be played multiplayer over a network that we couldn’t connect to.

It might have gotten rave reviews by all the big shots (IGN, Game Rankings, 1UP, GameSpot, and so on) but in my book, it got a whopping 0/10.

Web Bacon Guest Comic Week!

It shouldn’t be all that surprising that nearly 25%* of Web Bacon’s readers thought it would be fun to make a guest comic.

So, I figured, all the big web comics all do guest strips for each other!  Web Bacon should definitely jump on that band wagon!

To the left, you’ll see all the guest strips submitted this week!  Remarkably, this is {Zero Division Error}** comics than I had though would be submitted!

Comic for 11-16-08

For the record, my computer was actually broken. The Apple Geniuses just don't know what was wrong...

So I got my computer back, and the Apple Geniuses at the Century City Apple Store, didn’t really know what was wrong with it.  Or why it couldn’t have OS X installed.

Anyways, it’s back and working just fine.  It took about 2 hours for Time Machine to put everything back onto my computer, so I didn’t end up losing anything!

And it’s true, losing my computer for a few days did force me to finish my thesis.  I couldn’t screw around in bed on the internet, I had to use my Dad’s iMac desktop to finish the thesis instead.  It did not take too long, and its at the editor’s right now.

Hopefully, he’ll get it back to me soon, I’ll be able to give it to my advisor for feedback, make some corrections, and turn in the final draft in a few days/week.

I’m very happy its finished!  The day I hand in the final copy is the day I officially have an M.A.!  Woohoo!

Comic for 11-09-08

It's always good when this error message pops up when trying to reinstall your OS.

Yeah, so today, I went to use my computer and it wouldn’t do anything.  Naively, I thought, “Well, it probably just needs to restart.”

So, I restarted it… only to find that it wouldn’t boot into OS X.

I did a little research using Bronwyn’s computer and found that the best advice was to first reset the PRAM.  Tried that.  Didn’t work.

Next, I tried to boot into safe mode.  Didn’t work.

So, I figured, maybe my computer just needs to have OS X reinstalled.  No big deal – I back up my computer every day using Time Machine.  Everything should go right back to normal once I reinstall and import everything from my external Time Machine Drive.

So, I pop in the OS X 10.5 Install DVD… and get this lovely error message!

Guess who gets to bring his macbook into the Apple Store today for repairs?  Yeah, that’s right.  Me!

Luckily, I used Time Machine to put my computer onto my Dad’s desktop so I can still make my comic and continue working on my thesis.  This is just a humongous pain in the ass since I need to finish my thesis, I’m in a tremendous amount of pain, will have two nerve blocks this week, another one next week and am basically in the worst mood I could be in.  Murphy’s Law, of course, would ensure this all happens the same week I find out that my RSD doctor might be migrating me from pain treatment to pain management.  My pain is increasing, and we don’t really know why.  Hopefully, my three nerve blocks will help… but this computer mishap really couldn’t have come at a worse time.

I trust Apple will fix it without much difficulty, I have Apple Care after all.  It’s just a huge pain in the ass, as you could imagine!

Send me some love.  I’m going to need it this week!
